Now, unlike just about every other Mario character, Rosalina has no enemies or ongoing goals. She simply wants to maintain the celestial peace she raises young Lumas into. As such, a game centered on her wouldn’t be a full release so much as digital download material.
At first, it would be more or less a life sim, doing things like reading to young Lumas, preparing star bit-based meals, keeping watch over the galaxy from the Comet Observatory. The idea I had for her motivation is a realization that she is mostly powerless to actually preserve the peace she and her Luma family cherishes. As she is the one who first constructed the Observatory, it’s fairly obvious that Rosalina is a skilled gadgeteer, and if her time spent with Mario and his friends on their world is canon, she’s likely met Professor E. Gadd, whose inventions could have inspired her or even have led to a friendly partnership. At any rate, it’s not implausible that her idea for dealing with their powerlessness is to upgrade the Comet Observatory, ideally with Gadd being contacted remotely to advise (and ideally to become a giant robot in times of danger). Polari would also play an advisor role for matters outside of gadgeteering.
Rosalina, however, cannot leave the Lumas to go hunting for parts. That’s where the heroes of other galaxies come in. Rosalina must find and rescue various heroes adrift in space just as she had Mario, and in exchange for her aiding them in their quest, request that they bring back the resources she needs to improve the observatory. Rosalina’s role is mostly raising Lumas in particular ways based on their natures and interests to make them ideal for a role, then matching them to the hero they’ll work best with, as well as deciding how to proceed with each upgrade following each hero’s return, but to go the extra mile, each hero would be playable and based around different stats and one or two special abilities. For example, a Celestial ShyGuy may have a low jump, but fast running, a jetpack to hover with, and invulnerability to projectiles from the front. With this, you can either give it a Luma that gives a lofty second jump to compensate for its weak natural hop, or one that boosts speed to simply rush over obstacles before they can trigger or the ShyGuy can fall.
Unlike the Waluigi game I proposed, this one I KNOW would never happen, but I still like the idea.
